The region offers a wide choice of activities – from spa treatments and wine tastings through to para-gliding and kayaking. The following gives you a flavour of the options available.

Golf: there are four top 18 hole courses close within easy reach at Saintes, Cognac, Royan and La Rochelle.

Horse riding: local treks across the countryside can be arranged only 5 minutes away at nearby equestrian centres or horse riding on the beaches at St. Georges and Royan is available locally

Fishing: both river and sea fishing is available locally (the latter if which does not require a permit). You can also do night fishing – even during the summer months (bass off the Ile de Ré or Royan, and conger and skate off La Rochelle, with Ile Madame is the best place for mussels.

Cycling: the French love to get on their bikes at every opportunity and the Charente Martime offers a perfect climate and terrain. We have local maps detailing dedicated cycle routes, through to the coastal bike tracks at Royan and Cote Sauvage. There are some bikes for use onsite or we can arrange for bikes and helmets to be rented locally.

Go-karting: available locally at Saintes and Royan

Water sports: canoeing, water skiing, para gliding and wind surfing are available at nearby beaches or local centres.

Spa treatments: thalassatherapy spa resorts are available in Jonzac and Royan.
