With the help of local artisans, we have also restored one of the original stone barns, dating back from the 18th century, to create a perfect holiday getaway for friends and family. It has all the character of old stone walls, features and original wooden beams, combined with the comforts and mod cons. We run this as a holiday home which has been established for six years now, usually booked from April to October. We've also had several winter lets.
The ground floor is spacious and airy with original features including renovated stone wall and exposed beams, which means it remain cool during hot summer days. With an open-plan design, there is a hand crafted fully-fitted kitchen and dining area offering everything guests and visitors need.
There is a comfortable lounge area with wood-burning stove, two large sofas and a television with UK satellite TV, a DVD player and a music system.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a bathroom. There is a large master bedroom, a double/twin bedroom and a single bedroom. All have Velux skylights with full blackout-blinds. The newly fitted bathroom has a large, powerful shower, toilet and sink.
Downstairs there are two sets of large French doors, one overlooking the cottage terrace through to the swimming pool and the other with a small front terrace onto gardens. Both offer sun or shade alternatively throughout the day, providing two areas for relaxing/open-air dining. The large heated 12 x 5 m swimming pool has roman steps leading into the shallow end graduating to a 3m deep end (yes, you can actually dive into it!). It is fully enclosed in keeping with the rather sensible French regulations. It’s very inviting.
