Child-friendly holidays

We all know the challenges of travelling with young children. As much as we love them, they take a lot of effort to keep happy and healthy while on holiday. With two of our own, we’ve tried our best to make your holiday as easy as possible, as well as save you from having to pack everything into your car.

In the bathroom, there is a bath mat, steps for the sink and a pottie.
Fans are available in each room.
Safety locks are on the kitchen cupboards.
There is a stair gate available for use.
Low windows have safety locks.
We supply a baby monitor, for when you are dining outside.
Night lights are also available.

We have most things available for those with babies and young children - steam steriliser, travel cot, baby chairs, high chair, booster seat, push chairs, rain covers, baby gyms. Please let us know in advance if you need these.

Safe Play

The rural setting is perfect for children. The gardens are fully-enclosed, and only accessible via electric gates or doors, making it an incredibly safe environment for playing. There is plenty of room for football and games. We also have a number of outside toys which everyone can take advantage of, including two swings, an activity centre, a slide and large paddling pool, as well as the main pool of course (12m x 5m). There are bikes which can be borrowed, with one child-bike seat for use.

The main pool is fully enclosed, meeting French safety regulations (for pools). There are arm bands and rings for use in the pool. There is also a fully enclosed terrace/patio for your private use for safe play and safe outside dining.

We also have a range of toys and books which can be borrowed for use in the gite.

Things to do

There is plenty of local activities to keep the young ones busy. From lots of local walks and bike rides (the Charente Maritime region is exceptionally flat area which makes for easy cycling) to local parks, there are also a range of beaches nearby which offer wind-surfing, boating etc. In the local villages, there are tennis courts for hire/use.

We have buckets and spades, and a range of games for use at the beach to keep everyone happy in the sand.

We have a range of DVDs and videos for various ages – which keeps them quiet for a few hours.

We also have a list of suggested day trips and activities available locally, such as the fantastic aquarium in La Rochelle and the award-winning zoo at La Palmyre (see our ‘Places to See’ page).

Advance notice

If you have any particular requirements, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to help you out.
